Jason Dykes
Jason is a senior lecturer in Geographic Information in the Department of Information Science with research expertise in interactive cartography and geovisualization. He has developed a number of innovative and interactive visualization applications and published research papers on geovisualization. Notable software includes the cartographic visualization application 'cdv', the panoraMap software that supports visualization through georeferenced panoramic imagery and 'geowigs'. Co-chair of the ICA Commission on Geovisualization, Jason has been an active contributor to the ICA Commission on Visualization and Virtual Environments over the years, coordinating the 2002 international colloquium and editing the multi-disciplinary "Exploring Geovisualization" (Dykes, MacEachren and Kraak, 2005). Jason is an Editorial Board member of Computers Environment and Urban Systems and and the Cartographic Journal. He is heavily involved in the teaching and organisation of the Masters in Geographic Information (MGI) and was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in 2005.
