April 7: On Tuesday, April 8, the CaGIS board will meet at the AAG in Tampa, Florida. If you have ideas, suggestions, or topics of concern, please contact one of the officers or board members as listed on the web page and share your thoughts with them to be raised at the meeting.
April 10: CaGIS Members’ Reception - Thursday, April 10, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m., Garrison Room, 2nd floor, Westin Hotel Refreshments will be served. Please stop by our party and talk with CaGIS board members and colleagues. Learn about activities with the International Cartographic Association (ICA). At the party on Thursday, there will be a presentation of awards and recognition of CaGIS members. The CaGIS Distinguished Career Award will be presented to Dr. Keith Clarke, UC Santa Barbara.
October 6: CaGIS announces AutoCarto 2014, an international research symposium on cartography, geospatial science, and visualization. The 18th in the AutoCarto series, the symposium will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 6-8, 2014. Professor Duane Marble will be one of the exciting keynote speakers bringing a unique perspective on cartography and GIScience. CaGIS is partnering with NACIS, whose 2014 annual meeting is being held on October 8-10, 2014. Join us at this joint conference at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center Hotel to explore new research, applications, and innovations in cartography and GIScience. Special rates will be available for dual participants. CaGIS will also host commission meetings for the ICA on October 5, 2014.
