CaGS had a significant place at the ESRI UC. Not only did we have a booth, we were able to exhibit many of the map competition winners in the Map Gallery. With Charlie Frye’s help, we had a special display island in the gallery with a banner above that could be seen from anywhere in the room. The display was always busy with many attendees grabbing cell phone photos of ideas.
This conference is the largest in the GIS industry and set a record with 15,000 attendees this year. Interestingly, about 40% of those are first-time attendees. There must be a strong sales program to support that!
Of course, the ICA was in Paris the previous week so CaGIS had fewer members than in some years. However, the booth was supported by President Kari Craun, Board members Sara Battersby, Doug Vandergraft, and Bill Mumbleau, along with Alan Mikuni, Doug
Dan Cole has taken over as chair of the scholarship committee and has released updated guidelines and form.
